Issue 57: "A Short Pigeon Story" by Andrea Tsurumi
A comic strip about an act of kindness brightening a quiet morning.
Hi KP!
Do you have artists you follow and are eager to see what they create? When you hear there's new work coming out from them, are you tickled with happiness and anticipation? Since I discovered Andrea's "Library Love Letter" many years ago, I've always eagerly awaited their next creation. Andrea's work spans from thought-provoking to emotionally powerful to absolutely hilarious. Their Crab Cake is what I consider a timeless classic, and Accident! still makes me laugh and discover new details with each reading.
Today, I'm thrilled to share Andrea's recent comic, "A Short Pigeon Story," which I received in their newsletter. I instantly fell in love with it, read it multiple times, shared it with friends, and now I'm excited to share it with our KP community. In this quaintly beautiful comic, Andrea shows how a small act of kindness can actually change the world for someone else - whether it's a bird, a human, or maybe all of us. I thank Andrea for graciously sharing their work with us. Please welcome Andrea and savor "A Short Pigeon Story."

Dollop of Fun: POP! Goes the Nursery Rhyme
In POP! Goes the Nursery Rhyme, created with text by the incomparable Betsy Bird and pictures by Andrea that came out just last month, the soothing familiarity of classic nursery rhymes transforms into something unexpectedly magical when interrupted by an overzealous weasel! From the moment I turned the first page, the text and visuals dance together with such perfect comedic timing and boost one another that I couldn't envision these words brought to life by any artist other than Andrea. Together, they elevate the work to something truly extraordinary. You can glimpse a sneak peek of the book here, along with early sketches of these delightful characters!
