In 2023, Sarah canceled her debut book deal with an international publisher to take a chance on creating new channels for media and representation. She asked Aram to bring some fresh ingredients and they baked Komerican Pie to a crispy crust in January 2024.

Sarah Choi, Founder & Contributor

Sarah loves boosting the heART and sEoul of the Korean diaspora across the U.S., and living a whole and unhyphenated life by embracing ALL the parts that shape her. She believes that anyone can relate to the Korean-American Komerican experience because in the U.S. — we’re all from somewhere else. Sarah celebrates the multi-generational immigrant experience and rejects narrow categories and limiting identities for everyone — trusting that we share more in common than not. After living in seven different cities, Sarah calls Atlanta home with her family. You will find her happiest hiking up a mountain. Read her Q&A to learn more.

Aram Kim, Founding Contributor

Aram is a writer, illustrator, and art director of award-winning children’s picture books. She grew up outside of Seoul and now lives in Queens (New York City). Aram loves to share her heART with anyone who connects to Komerican Pie and is an important recipe tester and taster for KP. She brings beautiful art, graphic design, enthusiasm for sharing cool people and things with our audience, and a huge heart. Read Aram’s Q&A to learn more.

Emeline Lee, Contributor

Emeline is an author of children's literature and based in the NY Metropolitan Area. Her second book Gwei, the Hungry Ghost, comes out in Spring 2026 with Kokila (Penguin Random House). She studied English literature and environmental sustainability at Columbia University. In addition to books of all kinds, her favorite things include nature hikes, hot pot, and family time. Mira Garrett Bayonne, Contributor

Mira is a poet, multi-media artist, lawyer and mother originally from Fayetteville, NC. A nurturing mother at heart, her work aims to contribute towards the healing, evolution, and prosperity of the familial spirit. She is currently working on her first book, and enjoys: nature walks, food, listening to audiobooks on 2x speed, and exploring life with her husband of twenty-three years and two young teens.
